Born in Morocco and later shaped by her years in Berlin, Sanaâ Lachheb-Testaud brings a multicultural sensibility to her work, where colour, language, and memory meet on the canvas. She began painting at the age of eleven, and what started as a childhood curiosity has since evolved into a lifelong artistic practice grounded in vibrant expression and emotional storytelling.
Working primarily with acrylics, she embraces bold palettes and luminous contrasts, creating pieces that are meant to transform a space and make it more alive and joyful. Her art often celebrates the richness of her heritage, weaving together visual and linguistic elements: fragments of Arabic and French, symbols, textures, and patterns that echo the places she has called home.
With a master’s degree in translation, she sees language not only as a tool of communication, but as an extension of identity. That interest naturally influences her paintings and illustrations, where words and imagery coexist. Whether on paper, canvas, or embroidered fabric, her work explores the way cultures, stories, and languages can coexist harmoniously.
